We enjoy seeing around in Tokyo by subway. Tokyo subway system that consists of 13 lines extends all over the city, from east to west, north to south. They allow us to travel very comfortably and reasonably.
How about Kyoto? Kyoto has 2 subway lines, but its bus network effectively spreads out. They say Kyoto bus leaves in front of Kyoto station and carries you directly to renowned tourist destinations such as Kinkakuji Golden Pavillion, Kiyomizu Dera and Gion respectively. Almost all tourists focus on buses as transit in Kyoto. That ends up restricting the local's bus rides for daily life. Its reasonable daily bus pass seems another reason for concentrating on the bus ride by tourists. They've announced they will end providing Bus One-Day Pass on 30 September 2023 and keep providing only Bus and Subway One-Day ticket, encouraging tourists to use not only buses but also subways.
